The role of actionable research in Age-Friendly Sarasota
Research that is relevant, participatory and actionable -- this is a guiding principle for Age-Friendly Sarasota and represents the "R" in the initiative's tagline FOR ALL AGES. Over the past year, Age-Friendly Sarasota conducted research to discover Sarasota County residents’ aspirations about age-friendly community features. Nearly 1,200 residents participated in surveys and focus groups conducted throughout the county.
The research was guided by the following:
- Relevant - Refers to the usefulness and applicability of the research to all eight domains of livability, and that the research represents the “authentic” voice of our community
- Participatory - Conveys the partnership with the community, which included the nearly 1,200 people who participated in the surveys and focus groups as well as the dozens of people, groups and organizations who promoted our efforts to learn
- Actionable - Reflects the next step -- in that the findings are just the beginning and that acting upon our learnings will yield greater age-friendly impacts throughout the community
The Age-Friendly Sarasota Community Report is complete and available to view and download here. The Age-Friendly Sarasota team will be sharing findings across all domains, to many audiences, and via a variety of formats including print, radio, social media and more.
Findings will be presented in a series of segments including Sarasota County’s Access Television. In addition, please contact us to ask a question or suggest a presentation for a group or organization.
