Florida Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA) is the primary state agency for administering human services programs for elders in Florida. DOEA works to promote well-being and healthy aging for Florida seniors, enabling them to age with dignity, purpose, and independence in their own homes and communities. With nearly five million residents age 60 and older, Florida has the highest population percentage of elders in the nation and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
DOEA works with public and private organizations, including 11 Area Agencies on Aging, to provide services, combat ageism, create public awareness, promote volunteerism, and advocate on behalf of elders and their families.
